A cool, sunless summer. Not what I moved here for. I chased the sun south, but the closer I got, the farther away it moved.
Elsewhere it’s 102 in the shade and everyone complains. Here it’s a harmless 75, the sort of weather some call perfect, but I resent it. It is just another thing I wanted that I did not get.
A friend once asked me, “Did you actually have a vision for what your life would be like?”
I did, I said. I have always chased the sun. But in doing so, I chase the sun away.
